This IS a Band

Share By Foss

I'm not a BandFor quite a while we’ve been getter e-mail from a guy named Stephan Jung. Turns out he’s German and a part of the Berlin based electroduo I’m not a Band.

So I figured why not give it a listen, after all some of the best electronic artists are from Germany. The tracks I’ve heard differ a bit from the usual electro people send us. The fact that they blend in a violin adds something to the tracks! And tracks like “Crazy” are just so filled with power and energy.

I’m not a Band have also done some great remixes of artists like Florence and The Machine, Digitalism and The Dodoz.

We bring a few of the finest here at Hejven.se for your pleasure.

Buy their releases here and give them some facebook love.

Friday Guest Bangers (week 12)

Hey my name is Chris Minus. I’m 24 years old and am a DJ / Producer from Copenhagen Denmark. I got my breakthrough last year when I won the Danish version of Movida Corona DJ Battle, and got the opportunity to play a set at the famous Ministry of Sound in London.

If you ask me what style i play my answer is Hous. Very simple I know, but I hate telling people that I only play deep-house or only tech-house because I love mixing all the genres together.

Mr. Fingers – Can You Feel It. The first time I heard this track back when I started DJing, I thought this was from some new house producer or something. I never thought that this track was from 1986! Larry Heard ladies and gentlemen. Amazing… His sound will NEVER die!

DJ PP – Miami Vice – Original Mix. I have no idea who this dude is, but the first time I heard it blew me away. So simple yet so effective on the floor. I’ve dropped it a bunch of times and it works every time. The rest of DJ PP’s tracks are also amazing and I think if this dude keeps on pushing tracks out like this, he’ll be having a great year!

Dale Howard – Reality Is Crazy – Original Mix. I remember dropping this track at the MTA party in Hal D and I couldn’t believe the reaction. This shit was making people going crazy. I didn’t touch a single effekt in this track, it just did its own thing without my help. Will definitely look for more of his tracks in the future.

Kojak featuring Jemeni – Art to Breathe (De Pompidou Flash Remix). This remix of Kojak’s Art to Breathe is absolutely amazing. It has that old school feeling that I adore. And that voice is soooo hot, and most likely the most sexy voice I every heard! Check out all of Kojak’s stuff. There’s everything from hip-hop to house!

Cobblestone Jazz – Chance. My last track is one of my favourite electronic groups today. Cobblestone Jazz are 3 guys from Canada mixing jazz & techno together. It’s a very weird sound because I can listen to this and have no idea if I want to smoke a joint or dance like crazy. Hope you dig it as much as I do!

AND!

Don’t forget to look out for my new label:
M:O:M Records in April. The line-up will include names such as:
Rosenstand, Denis Horvat, Lou Van and many more amazing producers. (Including myself of course) :-)

Well I hope you enjoyed the tracks… I did :-)

Best regards
Chris Minus

Play at 85 dB or above

Share By Foss

85 dB85 dB comes from the 2nd biggest city of Denmark, Århus. They play what they call trash dance and it’s a combination of the strong electronic elements from the 90′s and the 00′s.

To compare themselves they use names like Cut Copy, Digitalism, Danish Spleen United and WhoMadeWho. 85 dB has been around since 2008 but this demo consisting of three tracks has only been a year on it way.

The five members of 85 dB, Egil Sandfeld, Sven Toft, Malene Wagner, Mads Behrend and Rune Schlosser, all contributes to the band with five different musical backgrounds. However the musical expression centers around two things. First thing is Egil Sandfeld’s perception of electronic music and the second is the interplay between the band members.
But they also manage to keep focus on pleasing the listener.

This first track from 85 dB is called “Sad Tune But Still”, and where the track name might lack a bit creativity, the track itself certainly doesn’t. It’s a moody electronic with soft synthy tunes and it’s great to listen to how the track builds up in intensity!

Remember to give the guys (and girl) some facebook loving and follow them on twitter.

The War is here

Share By Foss

The War is Comming

It is unquestionable that the Electro genre has reached a broader American audience in the last two years. I am determined to document the scene and its participants, show the inner workings of the genre and what it will eventually evolve into.
- The Electro Wars

The Electro Wars is a documentary about the blooming electro scene and has its premiere on the Miami Winter Music Conference.

It brings us closer to the people like Steve Aoki, A-Trak, LMFAO, Chromeo, Justice, Toxic Avenger and Laidback Luke that we already know because of the great music and awesome remixes they release.

I’m looking forward to the release!

Check their Vimeo channel.

British Blende was asked to create a a theme for the documentary and the track has a very nice moody Justice feel to it. Delicious!

Tuborg har (rigtig) mange venner

Share By Foss

Asmus Brandt, Daniel & Karsten Green
