Just a few hours ago a mail popped into the mailbox like it happens all the time.

It was a modest mail only containing a brief introduction and two links. Stream and download. I opened up the stream link and gave the tracks a listen like I often do and sadly way too many times I’m disappointed by the quality. But HEY! This was not one of those times.

The vocal was dirty and energetic as were the guitar and drums. Amazingly energetic. And the tracks were well produced! I found myself immediately liking the two tracks from Leeds based Alvin Purple!

Originally Alvin was an 1973 film about an irresistible man and his “sexcapades” and it’s a mystery to my why the quartet choose this particular name.

Hejven asked me to share some of the songs I’ve been listening to throughout this week, but since Friday Bangers is a weekend feature, I’m not going to ruin your get-out-and-about mood with the gloomy stuff that usually frequents my record player.

So here’s some rather danceable, happy and even uptempo tracks! If you like them, stop by my blog, and if you’re in Copenhagen, come by Ideal Bar tomorrow!

A few words about myself: I’m a DJ, writer and co-founder of House of Moves, Copenhagen’s new movement embracing the sounds and ambience of alternative party music.

Can – Vitamin C – Legendary kraut-rock group, who released some pretty groundbreaking records in the early seventies. Vitamin C is a shorter and more accessible tune than their usual stuff; the monotonous drums and the melodious repetitive bassline get under your skin.

Dharma – Plastic Doll – I have to upload some italo since it’s always a part of my repertoire. This is a classic from 1982 – a superb production that always works on the dancefloor.

Devandra Banhart – 16th. and Valencia Roxy Muisic – This is something different than his usual hippie-folk stuff, and a nice message for the weekend; ”… tonight, we’re gonna find our lovers”. Get up and get out!

Babbi Lahiri – Jeena Bhi Kya Hai Jeena – I have an extremely soft spot for Indian disco, and genre that often scares off most crowds! But when they steal Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean bassline, people tend to forget the gritty production and Hindhi lyrics.

The Velvet Underground – Sweet Jane – Notice the elegant easy-going introduction and the simple, but sheer beautiful lyrics. It always cheers me up!

Clubbing og performance forenes lørdag den 24. april på Hotel Fox og danner rammerne for KABARET.

KABARET er hotel-clubbing hvor forførende performere, roller-girls og byens klassiske darling-DJ’s danner rammerne for lørdagens fest.
Foruden festen i hotellets foyer kan du gå på eventyr på hotellets værelser, blive sminket og få klippet dine totter.

Djuna Barnes, Kasper Bjørke, Oli Viagra og Svensker har pakket deres pladetasker og sammen dirty-girl Sascha Hérisson fra det tyske hypede band Rework, leverer de musikken i foyeren. Restauranten hostes af bloggen Vogelspand & Mickey Go Go og Rusts onsdagsklub Garagen.

Med to af garderobenumrene medfølger nøgler til to af hotellets værelser, hvor du kan holde efterfest eller sende dit forårsknald til tælling, og stå op veludhvilet til morgenmad søndag!

Kongelig hofleverandør Tuborg har desuden hjulpet festen lidt på vej og derfor bydes der på billig bar i de ellers så eksklusive lokaler! .. og og gratis shots i døren og gratis øl i garderoben.

This Friday the guys from FLÆSK invites you to yet another great party!

Last time FLÆSK opened it’s doors Turboweekend (ooh look out for these guys, they’ll soon do a Guest Banger on the blog!) picked the live bands and DJs but this time Kasper Bjørke offered his musical expertise.

Kasper released his album “Standing On Top Of Utopia” primo February this year and we brought you the first single “Young Again” a while back.
Now however Kasper picked the live acts and DJs for the next FLÆSK and what a great job he did.

Among the names we find the two vinyl turning girls who form the duo Good Tape Grrrls, Swedish This Is Head who play more move-your-feet-on-the-dance-floor-funk/punk inspired music and DJ Maniking who will feature live bass and drums!

The best thing about FLÆSK #3 (besides the awesome lineup) is that they entry is completely free and the drinks and beers are cheap!

So remember to rsvp on their facebook event to get in for free and hopefully we’ll see you there!

There will be serving free bacon rinds and ice cold whiskey-and-sodas from 8 to 9 PM. There will also be double up on the bar till 11 PM so get there early!
