Friday Guest Bangers (week 18)

My name is Kjeld Tolstrup and I am a DJ.
Chances are you’ve heard me, and if not maybe your parents have.
I’ve been DJ’ing for 29 years and in a couple of months I’ll be 45.

I play discotheques, raves, private parties, underground clubs and the occasional wedding.

You can listen to me every Friday night on Denmarks Radio P3 with Le Gammeltoft on Unga Bunga !!!
or you can tune in to the dab/net version of the show 24/7/365. Our next Compilation, Sound Of Copenhagen 5, will be released in August.

These are some of my personal faves from the last couple of months.

Romanthony – The Wanderer (Dixon Re-Edit) (download)

A simple but very effective remix/edit of one of my all time favorite tunes. Basically all Dixon does is add drums to what must be one of the most original house/not house records ever. The result is nothing short of stunning.

Hugg & Pepp feat. Robert Manos – Sweet Rosie (Club Mix) (download)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

A brilliant and quite different record from the Dahlbäck brothers, that got away from most people when it was released back in September 09.
It pitches up the original vocal to a point very close to silly but somehow retains all of the love and emotion of Robert Manos‘s beautiful voice. A future classic in my collection, for sure.

Acid Washed – The Rain (download) (removed pr. request)

Their self titled album is the best electronic album of the year and these extremely lovable gentlemen from Paris via Berlin could easily become a household name in the very near future.
Tracks like “Snake” and “Change” as well as their remixes for artists like Wolfmother, Kelis and my local heroes Turboweekend have been blogged to the max and their remix of Hankat‘s debut single “Be The First” will be released on june 7th on Sound Of Copenhagen Records (yes we have our own label now).
This is their rendition of the Def Jam classic originally released in 1986 by Oran “Juice” Jones.

AZARI & III – Reckless (With Your Love) (download)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Anyone with a love for house music should know these crazy Canadians by now. I must play 5-6 of their remixes and productions every week, they’re just that hot. This is their finest and most heartfelt moment and still gives me immense pleasure even 6 months after it’s release.

Findlay Brown – Love Will Find You (Weirdo Police Remix) (download)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

I am a huge fan of Findlay Brown, and this remix by Weirdo Police cleverly combines his Roy Orbisoneque vocal and a fabulous 80´s influenced house production that will have all the cool girls dancing around their Vibskov consumerism bags. This mix, as far as i know, was only released as part of a DJ-only promo EP, so this should be a first for most of you. Enjoy !!!
PS! For more Findlay Brown check his version of the Joe Smooth classic Promised Land remixed by Dimitri From Paris, here:

Electrosexual & Scream Club feat. Mz Sunday Luv & Zoe Vermillion – Break You Nice (Hard Ton Remix) (download)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Hard Ton can do no wrong. Straight out of Italy, this 2 man band is fronted by the biggest gay icon since Divine, with a voice to match other gay legend Sylvester. Their remix of French electro acts Electrosexual & Scream Club has it all, Italo flavored acid with some old skool rapping and a healthy dose of their trademark falsetto vocals.

BONUS

Jamie Principle – Your Love (Dub/Rodapella Mix) (download)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Rare dub version of maybe the best house track ever and just perfect for that special end of the night, early morning moment.
